See the legendary hotels and casinos, malls, museums and monuments, the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign, Fremont Street and more.   $39   http://eng.bigbustours.com/lasvegas/home.html

Las Vegas Sightseeing Tours
On foot, you'd have to walk too far; on a bus, you couldn't visit the Las Vegas Strip casinos that are the main focus of interest. What bus tours there are head out from the city instead, mainly to the destinations in the vicinity - Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, and so on.  http://pinkjeeptours.com

Hoover Dam Tour
This Premium Express bus tour provides a narration of Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City as you travel to the Dam. The tour also features a video of the construction of the dam. $74.99   http://www.hooverdamtourcompany.com/express.html

Grand Canyon Tours
Whatever impression you may have, the Grand Canyon is not close to Las Vegas.
The South Rim, the most famous tourist area, is 290 miles away by road, and the quieter North Rim only a little less. A Colorado river viewpoint on the Hualapai Indian Reservation, only 130 miles from Las Vegas, called West Rim, but the views are not on the same scale. Trying to see the South Rim on a day-trip by bus involves at least a ten-hour round-trip ride, and is not recommended. Competition on air tours, however - including an over flight of Hoover Dam - means that you may be able to find prices as low as $100 per person, which isn't bad for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. http://viator.com

Double Decker Bus of Las Vegas
Towering almost 13 feet above the strip, passengers have unparalleled views of everything along the way.

I want a drone too, by Bea Jetsons

It's just a dream for now. Until I get my drone, I have to be at the DMV waiting for some 5 hours just to renew my drivers license. What a deal.

by Bea Jetsons
In Las Vegas, where you can digitally hail a ride, track it and pay for the ride electronically through your credit card, nobody is amazed by drones flying around here. Drones are getting around like this city was always The Jetsons' land.

About a month ago, we saw a drone holding a huge banner on the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, promoting a drone company. Marquee day club is offering bottle service by drone to the guests partying at its outdoor deck and cabanas. Their drone is sort of a cocktail waitress with 8 legs.

South Point Hotel and Casino will be Nevada’s first indoor drone test range. They will fly drones at the South Point ArenaMany drones have been spotted taking pictures of the action during parties at Hard Rock’s Rehab and at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic and it seems next year you'll get your 128GB Ipad 8 delivered at your door by an Amazon drone.

Everybody is getting a drone. I want a drone too. My drone will be customized, starting by the color; pink and I will change my last name to Jetsons. The drone I want will do many things I cannot do, such as follow a neighbor with his mastiff and find out where exactly he lives. He is the one who has been terrorizing the neighborhood with his 250 lb fila dogBut it won't be my drone's main use anyway.

When I get my drone I will send it to the post office every single April 15. When I'm busy working and want to have a yummy yogurt, I can send my drone to FroyoTime and get their super delicious yogurt packed on the back of my drone.

I also will send my drone to the DMV to pick up a number for me and when get closer to be called, I'll leave home. It's just a dream for now. Until I get my drone, I have to be at the DMV waiting for some 5 hours just to renew my driver license.

Let's pretend it is autumn in Las Vegas

If you don't want to stay overnight, try a hot cocoa at their bistro Mt Charleston Coffee, or have a breakfast, lunch or diner at their restaurant watching hummingbirds

Sometimes Vegas can be overwhelming; so many things to do, places to go, restaurants to choose from, so many concerts, shows, that you just want to be a hermit for a day or even pretend it is autumn in Vegas.

There are two ways, at least that I know, to pretend it is autumn in Las Vegas. One is setting your AC thermostat like to 45 degrees and the second option is driving towards the mountains which is what sometimes we do during summer time.

Mt Charleston is just 35 miles from Vegas and it is 25° to 40° cooler. It is 102 degrees in Vegas right now, but in Mt Charleston is 68° and tonight it is gonna be 47°.  With such a weather you just don't want to go back to Vegas. But during the winter you don't want to be there. It is so freaking cold.

There are many hiking trails around the mountains, like Mary Jane Falls trail that has a seasonal waterfall and a cave and also Cathedral Rock, a half-day hikes through impressive views. If you don't want to hike alone, there are many Vegas meetup groups you can join and start hiking together with some 10, 20 people.

But if the goal is to be a hermit anti-social for a day, there is nothing better than to book a cabin at the Mt Charleston Lodge. There are no phones, A/C, WIFI, cable or TV reception in the cabins! Just that makes you a truly hermit.

Cabin prices for the rest of July are from $39 to $210. There are many deals, according to the cabin you want to book, like with balcony, standard, etc,  but the best of all deals is a 20 percent discount for locals with Nevada ID and military ID.

If you don't want to stay overnight, try a hot cocoa at their bistro Mt Charleston Coffee, or have a breakfast, lunch or diner at their restaurant watching hummingbirds flying around.

The lounge is open until eleven. Each cabin has a TV with a built-in DVD player. There is a cell phone tower and some major carriers work on the mountain.

7th Annual Las Vegas Film Festival

Las Vegas Film Festival Moves to New Home in Downtown Las Vegas

Las Vegas Film Festival (LVFF) moves from its usual home at the Las Vegas Hilton to Fremont East in Downtown Las Vegas. Stepping in as its title sponsor, Zappos.com welcomes LVFF to its neighborhood culture of arts and technology. “It’s an exciting opportunity to take part in the renaissance of Downtown Las Vegas,” said Milo Kostelecky, Executive Director of Las Vegas Film Festival. “The area is full of great energy and creative minds that align with our festival’s mission. We’re proud to start establishing an identity for us in the heart of the downtown community.”

From July 30 – August 3, experience LVFF’s expansion to a 5-day event, boasting 70 film screenings and 8 festival parties. As LVFF’s Official Hotel Sponsor, Downtown Grand will be opening its doors to host filmmakers and guests traveling from outside the city. To kick off celebrations, the Festival will hold its Opening Ceremony at Inspire Rooftop Bar. Filmmakers, special guests, and the public can enjoy films showcased at downtown theaters inside Inspire and Scullery.

Regarding the festival’s lineup, West McDowell, Director of Programming at LVFF, says, “You can expect to see a varied program of unique perspectives from our Official Selection this year; expect some tears … some from too much laughter and some from tugs on the heartstrings. Infinite Man, A Brony Tale, Heaven Adores You, Ukraine Is Not a Brothel – these titles are festival centerpieces not to miss.”

True to Downtown Las Vegas’ emphasis on community support, LVFF 2014’s film schedule has no shortage of local talent. Popovich and the Voice of the Fabled American West is the highly anticipated film by brothers and local Las Vegas directors Jerry and Mike Thompson. Partnerships with the film departments at University of Nevada Las Vegas and College of Southern Nevada ensure a strong presence for local filmmakers. This year the Festival will also premiere its 1st Annual Music Video Lab, sponsored by The Downtown Project, featuring music videos with performances by local bands and filmed by local directors.

Between screenings, filmmakers can meet at Coterie and Wayfarer to mingle at sponsor-hosted mixers. In the evening, attendees can enjoy after parties at local establishments like Inspire Rooftop Bar, Atomic Liquors, Gold Spike, and the lawn at Container Park. Revelers can enjoy these spaces all in walking distance from one another.
