It's your chance to taste this famous Brazil's national cocktail

Las Vegas Brazilian Culture Meetup Group meets onthe last Friday of each month at Via Brasil - 1225 South Apache Road. All meetups are at the Bar & Lounge Patio from 6 pm to 8 pm.

According to Anna, the meetup organizer, these events are "an evening of socializing, networking and friendship for simples, couples and business professionals."

So, is like a melting pot of Brazilians, Americans, singles, couples and everything in between. Another good news, the first Caipirinha is on the house! It's your chance to taste this famous Brazil's national cocktail.

Via Brasil will start, from September 1st, free samba and salsa lessons, from 6 pm to 9 pm on a private room inside the restaurant. If you don't dance samba yet, it is your chance to learn how to samba with Brazilians teachers.

Via Brasil also will held the event Brazilian Outdoor Festival to celebrate Brazil independence day, which is the 7th of September.

Update: Just found out the Brazilian Outdoor Festival will be moved to the end of October or first week of November. Will post soon I get the dates  :)

Dirk Vermin "Bad Ink" Farewell

This Wednesday night Aug 20 as we bid a fond farewell to the "experiment" known as "BAD INK". I can't express how much your support of me personally still means!

by Dirk Vermin
On August 20 we say goodbye to "Bad Ink". This final episode ends my two seasons on A&E. No tears are necessary. I do not now, nor ever did, have any ownership of the show. "Bad Ink" was always the property of the network and the 24 episodes I worked my ass off for were enough for me.

It would have been nice to continue as I felt the series had the potential for greater things but this is not my decision. I was never a fan of some of the silliness of Season 1 (I don't actually build dog houses or bake cakes) but I stand by my tattooing and was especially proud that Season 2 showcased and proved the fact that I'm a damn good tattoo artist.
You all helped make the show successful in spite of any real promotion, except social media, and it worked! We are still a bona-fide hit worldwide. I can't thank you all enough for the support throughout the past two seasons on Facebook and Twitter and I will try to be more active on both.

So what what's next on my insane agenda?  All I can say is stay tuned for bigger and better things. Priority one is finishing my first book:

The Devil and Dirk Vermin?!
(An unapologetic and not so modest history of growing up in and surviving Las Vegas with a completely biased social commentary loaded with subversive and agnostic ideology on the way to selling my soul to become a short-lived reality TV star)

This is all MINE, unfiltered and unapologetic. No networks, producers or editors looking over my shoulder.

Look for an early 2015 release.

You can also look forward to a brand new album from The Vermin, a YouTube channel and the launch of my personal channel on www.Stars1on1.com.

Most importantly, I wanted to use this as a message to all of my fans - I LOVE you all and have truly been humbled by all the support, both for the show and me personally, but make no mistake, "television is something I did, not who I am."

To the network: Thanks for the fame, I'll take it from here.

PS:  Television is a strange universe that I'm glad to escape for awhile but do stay tuned... SO much more is coming. More than you can imagine. More than I can tell!

So on our final episode? Do me a huge favor. Turn on the TV when the show starts, not before, and turn it off when show ends. I think that says it all...See you Wednesday!!! It's a good episode! #DIRKVERMIN

Living and Working in Downtown Las Vegas

Always present yourself like you're not scared to die and convey an attitude of confidence and success at all times and no one will bother you... Be safe, be smart, carry cab money, condoms and a majestic reputation. by Charity Griego

Last week I was around Downtown Las Vegas and I saw tons of women who actually work and live there. So I asked one of them, +Charity Griego, how is to live and work in Downtown Las Vegas; how safe is for a woman getting around, working, living there, and here is what she is saying.

Downtown Las Vegas is classy, eclectic and real; from the vintage buildings, the Art District and the law makers and breakers of the city.  I have worked in various places downtown since 2005; from nightclubs to funeral homes and volunteered at City Hall. It has been an honor to contribute to the core of our city's night life, professional services and community outreach.

As far as going out Downtown Las Vegas, an independent woman should always watch her surroundings, but downtown is a close knit scene and over time everyone knows everyone.

A woman still should make her presence known and build trusted friendships to watch her drinks, watch her back and always have a safe ride home in lamest terms "become popular and you'll never be harmed".

No matter where you go, when you're out of range of "security" you are "unsafe". Stay in lit areas, around people you know and trust, get to know your neighbors, build community contacts and participate in events.

Always present yourself like you're not scared to die and convey an attitude of confidence and success at all times and no one will bother you, even in the worst parts of town. The only difference between day and night is sunlight. Be safe, be smart, carry cab money, condoms and a majestic reputation.

I also live downtown in a vintage house, built in the forties, it is quaint, quiet and its antique design has a character that beats the cookie cutter HOA's of Summerlin or Henderson.....and the occasional bum, passing by helps me remember where I came from.

My landlord cleans my yard, accepts my deliveries and I have to call him to pick up his rent money. I care for his house as if it were mine and invest money on repairs and upgrades because he gave my daughter and I the opportunity with out hassle or credit checks. Downtown Las Vegas has a sense of community and restoration that other places don't, in making the most of what you have and welcomes all walks of life.
